The church today
The church of the Holy Spirit is home to a lively local community of faith here in Clapham South. We take seriously the Holy Spirit as a gift for everyone without distinction and so offer an inclusive welcome to all who come.
Of course the church is primarily a place of worship and we have a variety of services both quiet and prayerful and lively and loud! It is also a place where we come together to be formed into the people of God, a people who are called to live out God’s love wherever they are.
We support and nurture one another through study groups for children and adults, book club, knitting group, choirs, lunches, picnics and concerts.
We support and nurture our local community though our active engagement with local schools, youth groups, charities, pastoral visiting, and of course through our enormously popular Abbeville Fete.
The contact centre provides a meeting places for a huge number of community groups from toddler groups to martial arts and gives us a place at the heart of Clapham South.
We have very close ecumenical links with our sister churches here in Clapham and have joined with them to be part of a project offering food and shelter to the homeless throughout the winter months. We have many exciting plans for the future and by God’s grace an enormous number of generous and energetic people prepared to realise those plans.
