Radio 3 Broadcast of this concert: see BBC Radio 3 schedule here; 9:40pm Thursday 15 January 2015 Clapham Community Choir is an enthusiastic choir of diverse
voices, which over the last three years has been developing rapidly both in
musical technique and repertoire. It is very much a “community choir”, of all
ages from early twenties to seventies or so. There is a great range of musical
experience within the choir, with a spirit of mutual support and cooperation.
The choir takes pleasure in working together, learning and performing four-part
pieces in a great variety of musical styles.
Jessie Maryon Davies
The concert on Saturday 13 December included a varied programme of traditional and modern songs, Vivaldi’s Gloria and music for Christmas there is a special premiere.
The choir, led by Jessie Maryon Davies, was selected in 2013 to take part in the Adopt a Composer scheme run by MakingMusicUK, which pairs amateur choirs, orchestras, and ensembles with a composer for a year to create a new piece of music for broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Jessie Maryon Davies graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2008 and performs both as a vocal and instrumental accompanist.
