Silver Socials in 2015

“You can't see it or smell it. But you feel it. Loneliness is like a deadness”  Dorothy Mills, who uses Silver Line*

Leading on from Mtr Ruth's inspiriting sermon on patriarch's (which you can read here) ....

We want to be a safe and welcoming place for older people to socialise and contribute.

We want to launch TUESDAY MORNING drop ins for older people in January 2015.

To do this we need your help!

Can you offer to volunteer on a 4-6 weekly basis? We are looking for:

GREETERS to open the church, serve refreshments, sit and chat;

CREATIVES to offer occasional activities – music, quizzes, crafts, games  …

DRIVERS to pick up and drop off local seniors

We also need a CO-ORDINATOR to organise everyone!

Clapham is great if you are young – let’s make it great for the not-so-young too!

Please contact Mtr Ruth or Sarah Miles for more information.

**Silver line is a national helpline for the elderly which was launched last year – most of the calls it receives are about loneliness and isolation. BBC report 25th November 2014
