FESTIVAL FAST APPROACHING …

We are fast approaching the highlight of our centenary year: Pentecost Festival Weekend Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May. Please put it in your diaries NOW!

The festival weekend will be enormous fun for the church and the surrounding community.

There will be making, baking, creating and competing on Saturday from 10 am – 4pm at the PARISH PREPARATION DAY. Focussing on preparing for the Pentecost Service and the Pentecost Party the following day; we will be making music and designing banners and creating beautiful doves and flames to decorate the church for Sunday morning and baking bread and creating cookies for the Pentecost Street Party on Sunday afternoon.

There will be refreshments provided throughout the day and a bring and share lunch at 1pm.

We finish the day with a QUIZ that will tease/activate/stimulate the brain cells of young and old with prizes for the winning all-age team.

ALL activities are for all ages and are drop in throughout the day, so there is something for everyone.

A sign-up sheet for volunteers to help on the day will go up in church after Easter, but if you want to register an interest to help already, please contact Sarah Miles
sarahmiles14@yahoo.co.uk.

On the Sunday morning at 10.30 we will be having a full sung, FESTIVAL EUCHARIST with Bishop Richard of Kingston presiding and Canon Leanne Roberts, of Southwark Cathedral [the Diocesan Director of Ordinands] preaching. The service will conclude with the sending out of the Easter flame.

Sunday 3-5pm we will be hosting a STREET PARTY for the local community, in Narbonne Avenue (inside if wet). As well as being a 100th birthday party for the Church of the Holy Spirit the occasion will also be raising awareness of and funds for Christian Aid. There will be a variety of exciting activities including the chance to enter our cake baking competition and fancy dress parade and to throw wet sponges at the vicar! Bishop Christopher of Southwark will be joining us, as well as members of the local community.

We anticipate that the cost of putting on the weekend will be in the region of £500-£750. If you are able to make a donation please contact our Treasurer Nick Jenni.
