Life Events

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage.  Wherever you are in the planning stage, we are here to help you as best we can.  You may want to begin by visiting the Church of England’s Wedding Site and then contacting us here.

If you live in our parish - please check here - and need to have your banns called at our church, you can download a Banns Application form, complete it and return it to us.

If there are people you would like to share your wedding with, but who can't attend, we can broadcast the service through Zoom, Facebook or YouTube.

We are pleased that you are considering the baptism of your child.  Baptism is a sacrament, a sign of God’s love for his children, and marks a new beginning and a decision to follow Jesus Christ.

Baptisms at Holy Spirit usually take place on the first Sunday of the month, during the Parish Eucharist which begins at 10.30 am.  We are often booked up some six months ahead so please contact us as soon as is possible.

You need to check whether you live in our parish, if you do not live in the parish we can direct you to your parish church or discuss membership which involves attending regularly for six months.  There is further information on baptism at the Church of England website.

First Communion

At Holy Spirit we welcome children of 8 of over (who have been baptised) to join with their family in receiving the bread and wine at the Lord's Supper. We run a short course once a year to help children understand the step they are taking. The course runs for approximately 6 weeks, once a week after school, ending with a movie night with cake and pizza!

If you are interested please contact Mother Ruth.

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptised and your intention to live a life of committed Christian discipleship.  This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the Bishop.  Confirmation follows a course of preparation over several weeks.  The next Confirmation Service is not yet arranged for 2013 but the preparation course for teenagers and adults begins some two months before.  Please contact us if you would like to know more.

A funeral is the occasion that marks the end of a life here on earth. It can be a quiet, private service in a crematorium chapel, or a large service with hymns and music in a full church. The choice is yours.

You will find more information on funerals here.

We would be pleased to speak with you at this difficult time, you can contact us here.

If there are people who would like to attend the funeral, but can't, we can broadcast the service through Zoom, Facebook or YouTube.
