Food Bank

Of the list of items needed by the Food Bank, a number are currently in short supply - we got this message recently from Lydia Serwaa who manages the centre:

Food Items Desperately In Need Please!!!

                  • Tinned Spaghetti (very short)
                  • Sugar (500g /1KG)
                  • Tinned Meat / Tinned Fish
                  • Tinned / Bottle Juices
                  • Long Life Milk

Ruth visited our local food bank on Poynders Road

– they had only been open for an hour and a half but they had already provided food for 15 families.  They were having to reduce the size of their usual food parcel because they were running out of food.  They desperately need food donations.

The Food Bank network was set up to provide emergency food for people in need.  Redundancy, benefit delay, illness, domestic violence, un-expected bills are some of the reasons why families find themselves going hungry.  A food bank voucher gives a family access to three days’ worth of groceries.
Food Banks are partnered with local schools, churches and other organisations who can give vouchers to those in need and who collect food on their behalf.

Here's how it works

Church of the Holy Spirit is a Food Bank Partner.

Please donate items from their shopping list into the Food Bank Box at the back of church as and when you can.

You can also drop food off directly at The King’s Café, All Nations Church, 12 Poynders Road on Tuesday or Friday between 11 am and 2 pm.  THANK YOU. To find out more go to their website on http://claphampark.foodbank.org.uk/
